The second half of Iowa’s shotgun deer hunting season ends Sunday. Wes Gould, conservation officer with the state Department of Natural Resources, says this is by far Iowa’s busiest hunting season. Its popularity led officials to split the season in to two parts to reduce the amount of individuals hunting at the same time. The late muzzleloader season, which begins Monday, is also popular among hunters.
