Four years of dues, totaling $54,600, will have to be paid by each county wishing to leave RUSS, Regional Utility Service Systems, which consists of Washington, Mahaska and Wapello counties at this time. At yesterday’s board of supervisors meeting, Jack Seward, the Washington Supervisor who sits on the RUSS board, explained options were discussed at last week’s RUSS meeting and no action was taken but consensus was reached. The 10 RUSS members are now asking their respective county’s board of supervisors if they would support such a measure.

The five Washington County Supervisors are in favor of paying one lump sum of four years of dues to exit the organization and have no further liability with RUSS projects. KCII News will bring you more information as it becomes official.
