A car accident in Southeast Iowa on Saturday sent four people to hospitals. At 11:27 a.m. Saturday, a Toyota Tacoma driven by 34-year-old Michael Rizzo of St. Louis, Missouri, was traveling eastbound on Highway 34 when the vehicle dropped off onto the shoulder. The driver then over-corrected and lost control, traveling through the median, rolling several times and coming to rest on its wheels on the westbound side of Highway 34.

The driver was taken by ambulance to Jefferson County Hospital, as was 31-year-old Kindra Rizzo and six-year-old Serenity Kennedy of St. Charles, Missouri. AirCare was also on scene and transported two-year-old Vincent Rizzo to the University of Iowa Hospitals. All four transported from the scene were wearing seat belts.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Fairfield Fire and Rescue, Jefferson County Ambulance Service, AirCare and Iowa State Patrol responded to the scene.
