The City of West Chester is considering an ordinance establishing open carry zones for weapons, which would prohibit open carrying of weapons on the city’s property. The Ordinance 134 has been tabled repeatedly and no action will be taken at tomorrow’s council meeting, as the council is waiting for an attorney review of the ordinance.

A source with the city tells KCII News that many concerns have been received by council members and the city. The ordinance does not pertain to concealed carry laws. The ordinance is modeled after a similar ordinance in the City of West Burlington.

Iowa Gun Owners, a gun rights organization and special interest group, has become involved in the action, requesting to see a copy of the ordinance.

KCII News will bring you more information as it becomes official.
