A scheduling error caused this weekend’s Southeast Conference bowling meet between Washington and Keokuk to change venues. The Demons, who were scheduled to host the Chiefs at Lebowski’s Rock n Bowl Saturday afternoon, ended up traveling to Arrowhead Lanes in Keokuk for the meet.

In the boys’ meet, Washington fell to Keokuk 2601-2209. Sophomore Colin Zear put together the best 10 frames of any Washington bowler this season, scoring 257 in the first round for the Demons. Zear followed that round with a second round 180 and finished the meet with 457 points overall. Sophomore Kylan Gillette was the only other Demon bowler to finish with a two-round score above 300 points, scoring 357 in the meet.

In the girls’ meet, Washington fell to the defending Class 1A bowling champion Keokuk team 2629-1792. Senior Kailey Martin was the Demons’ top female bowler for a second straight meet, finishing with a two round score of 284. Each Demon girl bowler had trouble with their second round of competition with no one outscoring their first round.

Washington’s bowling team won’t return to competition until January 10, 2015, in a conference meet against the Fairfield Trojans at Flamingo Lanes in Fairfield.
