The Washington Demon girls basketball team played well for the first eight minutes of their conference opener Friday evening in Fairfield.As you heard on FM 106.1 and KCIIradio.com, the Demons jumped out to a 12-4 lead over the Trojans after the first quarter, holding Fairfield without a field goal in the period. The Demons were outscored 44-19 over the final three quarters as Fairifield was victorious 48-31.The victory snapped Fairfield’s losing streak against Washington which dated back prior to the 2011-12 season.

Junior guard Amber Salow finished with a team high 13 points, while senior guard Dylan Schluetter scored 11 points and grabbed seven rebounds in the loss. The setback drops Washington’s record to 2-3 overall. Fairfield guards Sami Fritz and Amber Buch scored 15 points in the victory, improving their overall record to 6-1.

The Washington Demon girls basketball team returns to the court this evening in a non-conference contest with the West Branch Bears at Washington High School. Live play by play begins with the Washington Hy-Vee Pregame Show at 5:45 p.m AM and FM KCII and KCIIradio.com.
