Due to recent winter weather blood supplies in Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota have fallen to critically low levels according to LifeServe Blood Center. LifeServe Blood Center provides blood and blood products to more than 100 hospitals across the three states. Donors are needed at this time to increase the blood supply, as the winter storms have caused a loss of nearly 200 units of blood due to cancellations, closings and delayed collection efforts.

Area blood drives include one Monday from 2:30 to 7:30 at the Kalona Mennonite Church Fellowship Hall and another next Thursday, January 22nd, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Henry County Health Center.
