The Keota Girls’ and Boys’ basketball team played at home last night on their homecoming night as they took on Belle Plaine. As heard on AM 1380, FM 102.5 and on KCIIradio.com both the girls and boys would fall short in front of a full house in the Eagles Nest. The Keota girls would lose with a score 48-36 and the boys would fall 64-57.
On the girls side it was a close one throughout the first half with Keota only down by five going into halftime 25-20. However, in the second half Keota could not keep up with Belle Paline’s scoring and were outscored 23-16 in the second half. Leading scorer for the Eagles was senior Madison Sheetz with 15 points and senior Madison Seieren followed with 11 points.
On the boys side the Eagles were facing an undefeated Plaineman team. Keota got off to a fast start and was up 20-13 at the end of the first quarter. Belle Plaine would get the game closer by halftime with Keota holding to a slim lead 31-28. Keota would then get to another fast start and were up 42-34 midway through the third quarter. The Plainsman would wake up though from that point going on a 15-0 run through the rest of the third and going into the fourth quarter. Keota couldn’t catch up at in the fourth as Belle Plaine would score 19 more points with Keota only scoring 15. The Eagles were led by junior Isaiah Hahn with 20 points and senior Nate Owen had 18 points to finish the game.
The Keota girls (7-7) and boys (6-6) will both stay at home as they play Tri County Thornburg on Tuesday.
