The Washington County Attorney and Sheriff are receiving a 3.3 percent salary increased, which is two-thirds of what the recommendation board proposed. The Board of Supervisors, also approved two-thirds of the recommendation, which is two percent, for the auditor, recorder, treasurer and supervisors.

The supervisors also proceeded with departmental guidelines for Fiscal Year 2015-2016 budgets. Departments will have no increase in operational cost but can present a need to the supervisors during work sessions. The salary section includes FICA and IPERS and the supervisors approved a two percent increase for a department’s overall salary costs. Raises will be distributed by department heads to employees. Medical insurance has increased six percent for each employee and will impact people differently depending on which plan they are enrolled in.

When asked if this will mean employees will see a decrease in take home pay Seward said he suspected the insurance costs would eat into the two percent salary increase. Supervisor Richard Young said it would depend on which medical insurance plan the employee has.
