The second round of Southeast Conference games starts tonight for the Washington Demon girls’ basketball team (4-9 overall; 0-3 Southeast). The Demons welcome the Fairfield Trojans (10-4 overall; 4-1 Southeast) to Washington High School for a conference clash.

This is the second meeting between the two teams this season. Fairfield won the first contest 48-31 in Fairfield on Dec. 12. The victory was the first for the Trojans over the Demons in over three years. Washington led 12-4 after the first quarter then got outscored 44-19 in the final three quarters of the game. Junior guard Amber Salow finished with a team-high 13 points and brought down three rebounds before fouling out of the game. Freshman guard Amber Nicole Buch had a game-high 15 points and gathered five steals in the victory.

Coming into tonight’s game, Keokuk and Fairfield are tied in the conference standings with identical 4-1 records. Mount Pleasant sits a game behind in the loss column at 3-2 in conference play. Both Washington and Fort Madison are looking for their first conference wins of the season, with Washington losing their first three conference games and Fort Madison losing their first four.
