The Washington Demon girls’ basketball team (4-9 overall; 0-3 Southeast) got off to a slow start Tuesday evening.

As heard on FM 106.1 and KCIIRadio.com, the Demons hosted the Muscatine Muskies (5-8 overall) in a non-conference girls game. Washington was unable to keep up with Muscatine, falling 60-39 in the contest.

Washington fell behind 15 points in the first quarter and trailed 30-10 at halftime. The Demons scored five points in each of the first two quarters. The Demons turned things around in the final half, only being outscored 30-29 and committing four turnovers in the final 16 minutes.

Junior guard Amber Salow finished the game with a team-high 10 points, her fourth straight double figure point performance. Freshman guard Sarah Nacos chipped in eight points in the setback.

The loss drops Washington to 4-9 on the year. The Demons return to the court Friday evening hosting conference opponent the Fairfield Trojans. Live play-by-play coverage begins with the Washington Hy-vee Pregame Show at 5:45 p.m. Friday on FM 106.1 and KCIIRadio.com.
