In their first nine games of the season, the Washington Demon girls’ basketball team (3-7 overall; 0-3 Southeast) had been able to hold their opponents below 50 points. As you heard on FM 106.1 and KCIIRadio.com, the Demons traveled to Mount Pleasant for the first of two conference games with the Panthers. Mount Pleasant opened the game on a 15-2 run and ended the first half with a 42-26 lead. The Panthers outscored the Demons 31 to 13 in the second half for a 73-39 victory. The 73 points is nearly 30 points more than the Demons have given up in any other contest this season.

Junior guard Amber Salow scored a game-high 12 points, while Addie Pacha contributed nine points and brought down five rebounds in the setback. Eight different Panthers scored in their victory, led by senior forward Hannah Becker with a game-high 17 points.

The win drops Washington’s overall record to 3-7 and are now 0-3 in Southeast Conference play. The Demons return to the court on Friday in a non-conference battle with the Ottumwa Bulldogs at Ottumwa High School.
