Last week, Senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa cosponsored a bill aimed at increasing federal transparency and increasing congressional scrutiny of regulations issued by agencies in the executive branch. The legislation is called the Regulations From the Executive in Need of Scrutiny (REINS) Act and was introduced by Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky. The bill would require congressional approval before enacting regulatory proposals that carry an annual economic impact of $100 million or more.

Grassley states he’s also been working on the Freedom of Information Act to increase transparency and reduce red tape.
