Tyler James Webster

The Iowa Supreme Court is reviewing the Iowa Court of Appeals’ decision to overturn the outcome of a 2013 murder trial in Jefferson County. The State of Iowa, through the Iowa Attorney General’s Office, requested the Iowa Supreme Court review the decision. The request was accepted Monday.

The Jefferson County trial in question ended with 35-year-old Tyler Webster being found guilty of murdering 32-year-old Buddy Lee Frisbie in 2012. The Fairfield man received a mandatory sentence of 50 years in prison.

In November, the Court of Appeals decided Webster should be tried again. According to Jefferson County Attorney, Timothy Dille, the Court of Appeals ordered a new trial due to juror bias. Dille says it’s believed that a member of the jury had a relationship with the victim’s family.
