Around seven spots need to be filled on the City of Kalona’s Board of Adjustments, Planning & Zoning Commission and Tax Increment Finance Board. According to City Administrator, Ryan Schlabaugh, the time commitment varies by committee.

For instance, planning and zoning meets regularly, while the TIF board meets only when necessary, and has met approximately three times in the last five years.

Anyone living within city limits interested in volunteering their time can contact city hall by phone or email.

Schlabaugh says the goal is to present a list of names to the city council at their meeting on February 2nd.
