Two long time Southeast Conference rivals met again Friday evening as the Washington Demon girls’ basketball team (4-13 overall; 0-5 Southeast) squared off against the Keokuk Chiefs. As heard on FM 106.1 and KCIIRadio.com, Keokuk freshman guard Michaela Davis scored a game-high 19 points as the Chiefs beat the Demons 62-49.

The game was a physical one with over 40 fouls being called between the two teams, 29 of which were called in the first half alone. In all nine Demons scored in the game, led by freshman guard Sarah Nacos, who came off the bench with 12 points. Nacos, who has played in her ninth varsity game of her career Friday night, finished the week with 35 points in three games. Junior guard Morgan Kimball had nine points, while junior forward Addie Pacha scored eight points and brought down four rebounds in the loss.

The setback drops the Demon girls’ basketball team to 4-13 overall and 0-6 in Southeast Conference play. Washington returns to the court Tuesday evening in a non-conference game against the Davis County Mustangs.
