The Washington Demon girls’ and boys’ bowling teams saw several individuals improve on their average scores this past weekend. The Demons were at Flamingo Lanes in Fairfield last Saturday for a Southeast Conference meet with the Trojans.

In the girls’ event, Washington fell to Farifield 2517 to 2083. Washington saw four of their five starters score above their season average in at least one game. Senior Kailey Martin (150 average) scored 182 in game one and 152 in game two for a team-high 334 points. Senior Ivy Hamilton (142 average) recorded 165 in game one and 142 in game two for a final score of 304. Senior Abbey Tisor (102 average) tallied 129 points in game one and 138 in game two to finish with 267 points. Freshman AnnaMarie Walter made her varsity debut in Fairfield and finished in the middle of the pack. Walter totaled 151 points in game one and 143 in game two to finish the meet with 294 points, the third best score for Washington.

In the boys’ event, Fairfield came away with the victory by a final score of 2625 to 2326. Freshman Maclain Leyden (113 average) scored 147 in game one and 188 in game two for a team-high 335 points. Along with Leydan, sophomore Kylan Gillette (163 average) also surpassed his season average in game two. He scored 133 points in game one and 164 in game two for a final score of 297. Sophomore Colin Zear (215 average) racked up 146 points in game one and 166 in game two for a final score of 312. Sophomore Jon Graff (180 average) racked up 134 points in game one and 173 in game two for a final tally of 307 points.

The bowling team begins a stretch of three straight meets at home beginning next Saturday against the Mount Pleasant Panthers at Lebowski’s Rock n Bowl.
