It wasn’t ice thickness that was the main concern leading up to Marr Park’s ice fishing clinic, but instead it was ice quality. Marr Park Naturalist Pam Holz says the upper pond has dealt with some thawing and refreezing, which can impact the safety of ice. Fortunately below freezing temperatures at night have left the ice in decent condition.

She says individuals will be stationed on the pond to assist those interested in ice fishing. Visitors will also be able to see what’s going on under the water using an underwater camera.

Along with the hot cocoa and samples of local fish in the Conservation Center, the grand opening of the snake exhibit will be held. The traveling exhibit will be at the center until June 1st.
