The Mid-Prairie boys’ (1-12) and girls’ (9-4) basketball team competed in Iowa City last night in a River Valley Conference match up. The Mid-Prairie girls would pull off the win against Iowa City Regina 59-46. The Mid-Prairie boys would fall with a score of 69-34.
The Golden Hawk girls and Iowa City Regina were locked in a close one going into halftime with Mid-Prairie up by four 29-25. In the third quarter, the defense would step up big and the Golden Hawks would go on a 15-2 run in the third. The Regals would try to comeback in the fourth quarter scoring 22 points, but Mid-Prairie had enough offense to take the win.
The Golden Hawks were led on offense by junior Alex Rath would had her best offensive performance of the year with 16 points and eight rebounds. Senior Ali Riggan got her second consecutive game with 10 points with her performance tonight. Freshman Addison Rath came off the bench scoring nine points, eight rebound and four steals.
For the Mid-Prairie boys the offense couldn’t muster much in the in the first half and the defense had trouble stopping the Regals and found themselves down 41-16 by halftime. The Regals had three players finish in double figures to finish out the game.
The Mid-Prairie girls are now 10-4 and currently on a six game winning streak and Mid-Prairie is 1-13 and both will travel to Tipton in a River Valley Conference Game. Game starts at 6 p.m. starting with the girls game in Tipton.
