The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks’ wrestling team competed at an invitational Saturday in Wayland. They had a very strong showing finishing in second place in points overall with 152.5 points just 11.5 points behind first place winner Iowa City Regina. The Golden Hawks had three wrestlers win their weight classes and three others took second place in the invitational.
First place winners were Duncan McCain (113), Visouth Peterschmidt (170), and Cameron Tolander (182). McCain won on two falls and a technical fall. Peterschmidt had a forfeit and won on two decisions. Tolander won a decision, fall, and a major decision.
Second place winners were Josh Murphy (120), Blake Murphy (132), and Levi Duwa (220). Josh won on two falls and lost in a technical fall. Blake won on two falls and lost in a fall. Duwa won on a major decision, fall, and lost in a decision.
The Golden Hawks will next wrestle at home in a dual meet against Wilton.
