Mid-Prairie boys’ soccer coach Pat Cady was named Coach of the Year by the National Federation of State Coaches Association. Mid-Prairie Athletic Director Steve Hollan says it is definitely a reward well deserved, “He is a hard working coach for us. He puts a tremendous amount of hours in. He wants to succeed not only for his kids and the Mid-Prairie program, but wants to represent the school and represent himself very well. That’s exactly what he does. He runs a top notch program and always wishes the kids good luck. Great honor and well deserved.”

Last year the Mid-Prairie boys’ soccer team had its best year as a program, going 17-3 in the season and finishing as runner-up in the state final. They lost to Iowa City Regina on penalty kicks 1-0.

The Golden Hawks had two first all state players, with Austin Errthum and Wyatt Cady.

Mid-Prairie will begin the 2015 season with a scrimmage at Solon on Friday, March 27th, and will begin regular season play at home against Clear Creek Amana on Monday, April 6th, at the Wellman Soccer Complex.
