Interest in YMCA of Washington County’s newest branch is growing.
The non-profit and the City of Kalona began their partnership January 5th.
Angie Boyse is the Wellman YMCA Facility Director and is overseeing operations at the Kalona Community Center. She says they had a slow start their first week due to cold weather, but the number of people using the facility and taking advantage of their programming has been growing since.
She shares they offer fitness classes, activities such as bingo for seniors, and they plan on holding after school programs and camps in the future for the city’s children. Boyse adds all of their programming during the month of January is free in an effort to give Kalona residents an idea of what they have to offer.
