It is the first day of 2015 and many offices and businesses are closed today in observance of New Year’s Day. Government buildings, including the Washington County Courthouse and post offices are closed. Also, there will not be any mail delivery by the U.S. Postal Service today. The Washington Public Library and banks are also closed. In Washington, garbage and recycling that is normally picked up on Thursdays will be picked up tomorrow.

Christmas trees may be left on the corners of intersections throughout Washington, but do not place them near fire hydrants. Trees can also be discarded in the designated area on the Southeast corner of the square.
