Over 100 parking tickets were issued across the City of Washington during the snow emergency Monday evening and Tuesday, according to Police Chief Greg Goodman.

During last night’s Washington City Council meeting area citizens spoke with concern regarding parking during such emergencies. Landlord Kevin Peiffer said many of his tenants received tickets and suggested allowing parking on the North and East sides of streets on even days and on the South and West sides on odd days, or something of that nature.

Goodman stated snow emergencies usually happen only once or twice a year but he has heard complaints of a lack of options for parking during such events. He said it is something that should be considered throughout the year.

The City’s snow emergency ordinance prohibits parking on city streets or alleys, unless snow has been removed or plowed from the area.
