The purchase of a new ladder truck has been put on hold in Riverside. During a public hearing Monday, City Administrator Rusty Rogerson told the council that the city has been advised to wait until the fire department and city’s issues are resolved before moving forward.
The city was recently told that tax dollars from the townships served by the Riverside Fire Department should go through the city first for auditing purposes. A motion passed to hold a work session with a consultant, city council, fire department and township trustees to explore their options.
Members of the fire department who attended Monday’s council meeting stated it’s possible the price they’re planning to pay for the truck will increase if the order isn’t placed by early March.
