The record low temperature was tied yesterday at -14 degrees. The last time the mercury fell that low on January 8th was in 1982. Last night a wind gust of 53 miles per hour was recorded at the Washington Municipal Airport.

Also, a wind chill advisory will go into effect at 6 p.m. this evening and is scheduled to expire at 11 a.m. tomorrow. Winds are expected to gust up to 30 miles per hour with wind chill values as low as 30 degrees below zero. Visibility will be less than a mile at times due to blowing snow, especially in rural, open areas.

Precautions, such as dressing in layers and covering exposed skin, should be taken to avoid frost bite and hypothermia.
