The RUSS board, or Regional Utility Service Systems, has approved an exit agreement for three counties seeking to withdraw from the organization. Washington, Mahaska and Wapello counties are trying to leave RUSS. This week the RUSS board approved an exit agreement where the exiting counties will pay four-and-a-half-years of dues, or $61,425.

Now each of the 10 member counties’ board of supervisors has to approve the exit agreement for the counties to leave. When, and if, all of the member counties approve the agreement the RUSS board will then acknowledge the withdrawal of Washington, Mahaska and Wapello counties.

The Washington Board of Supervisors will discuss and consider the agreement at their regular meeting Tuesday.
