Mid-Prairie officials are working on the design and layout of a multipurpose practice facility. The effort to build a new facility was spearheaded by parents who saw a need in the district for more gym space.

The project has received a $200,000 grant from the Washington County Riverboat Foundation, and an additional $75,000 has been raised through donations. Athletic Director Steve Hollan says they have enough money for an 80 by 100 square foot building, but will soon begin a fundraising campaign in the hopes of increasing the square footage. The size they go with will depend on how much is raised.

The current plan is to build the facility on the high school’s geothermal well field. Hollan adds they hope to have the building ready to use by November.
