Snow is in the forecast with light flurries throughout today, giving way to heavier snowfall this evening. Yesterday, a winter storm watch was issued for Southeast Iowa effective today through tomorrow. According to the National Weather Service, widespread accumulation of snow is expected with seven to 11 inches, but some areas may see more. Also, winds are expected to gust between 20 and 30 miles per hour, causing drifting snow. Avoid traveling if possible, as drifting snow will cause low visibility and roads may become slick.

The City of Washington is under a snow emergency until Tuesday, meaning that people should not park on city streets unless snow has been removed or plowed from said street or parking area and the snow has ceased to fall.
