The performers in Mary Poppins range from the very experienced like Zoe Wagner who plays the famous British Nanny, to the youngsters that play Jane and Michael Banks in Greta Piette and Quintyn Garibay, who are both just getting started in live theater. All three actors though have different explanations for the importance of community theater.

Piette believes that “community theater is important because it creates a sense of community and helps inspire people.”

Wagner talks about how the community theater bond not only applies to the actors on stage but to the audience as well. “Community theater is a place where everyone can come together and set aside their differences and grieve together, laugh together, cry together and leave together at the end of the show smiling which I think is really special.”

For Garibay the importance of community theater is about giving individuals the ability to express themselves. “It gives people a place to display their talents. It really shows people in their element because you might have a regular job but in your free time it’s cool to surprise people that didn’t think you would be into acting.”
