There is a supply drive this week in Washington for victims of Hurricane Ian in Florida. Those who would like to participate are welcome to drop off items in the lobby of Hills Bank on East Washington Street. The drive was organized by Sarah and John Thompson, who lived in the Washington area and now live in Fort Meyers, Florida. Julie Evans, a Washington resident who is helping with the supply drive, talks about what type of items will be accepted.

“What they are looking for is clothes, baby wipes, diapers, new underwear, shoes, baby food and formula, shampoo conditioner, hairbrushes, toothpaste, toothbrushes, feminine products, deodorant, flashlights, batteries, air mattresses, blankets, and lots of water.”

Items can be donated until Saturday at 11:00 am, when the items will be picked and distributed to those affected by Hurricane Ian. There are also secondary drop-off locations as well, as Fareway in Washington will also be accepting donations, and donations can also be dropped off at 811 4th St in Kalona.
