Two of Washington’s three archery teams returned to competition last Saturday. The Washington High School and Lincoln Elementary archers competed in the Anamosa tournament with 157 high school and 105 elementary shooters taking part in the event. The middle school team sent two archers to compete in the meet as individuals.

Washington’s High School archery team finished fifth out of seven total teams with a score of 3188 including 123 bulleyes. Sophomore John Sands score the best overall score for Washington with a flight of 285 points, 15 points away from a perfect score. Sands finished in sixth place overall in the boys’ tournament. Senior Alex Sinn led the girl archers with a score of 271, including 10 bulleyes.

The Lincoln Elementary team finished in second place out of five teams with a score of 2595 and 46 bulleyes.

The Washington archery teams are set to compete this weekend at the Mount Vernon tournament. Flights begins at 10 a.m. Saturday at Mount Vernon High School.
