The Washington Archery teams had a good showing in front of their home crowd this weekend. The Demon archers hosted their second tournament of the season at Washington High School and each team finished near the top of the standings.

The Lincoln Elementary team finished in first place with a score of 2795. Washington’s High School and Middle School teams each finished in second place in their division. The High School team finished with 3204 points while the middle school ended the meet with 2996 points.

Individually, several archers finished in the top ten in their respective divisions. Sophomore Grace Shafer-Smith had the best performance of anyone at the meet, finishing with a team-high 286 points. Shafer-Smith’s performance was the second best girls’ score of the 121 person field. Sophomore John Sands was the best high school boy archer, finishing the competition with 284 points. His score was the 5th best overall boys’ score in the 175 person field.

Eighth grader Paige Hyde finished as the middle school’s best archer, scoring 268 out of a possible 300 points. Her finish was the 5th best in the middle school girls’ division and was the 11th best girls’ performance overall. Finally Lincoln Elementary Student Kaden Bex finished as the team’s top archer, scoring 250 out of 300 points. Bex’s performance was the fourth best in the elementary boy’s division out of a 65 person field.

The Washington Archery teams return to competition this Saturday in the Cardinal of Eldon Tournament. Flights begin at 9 a.m. at Cardinal Community Schools in Eldon.
