For the first time since early December, the Washington Demon boys’ basketball team (5-6 overall; 1-1 Southeast) has a chance to elevate their overall record to .500. The Demons welcome in the Fairfield Trojans (3-10 overall; 0-5 Southeast) to Washington High School for a Southeast Conference showdown.

Washington has won four of their last five games, helping pull their overall record one game below .500 through 11 regular season games. The Demons tied a school-record with 15 made three-point shots in a 62-61 victory over the Davis County Mustangs (8-6 overall) on Tuesday evening. Senior Thomas Bump tied the record for the team with a game-winning three-pointer with three seconds remaining to propel the Demons to the victory.

Fairfield comes into the contest off of a 52-32 victory over the Eddyville-Blakesburg Rockets on Monday, just their third victory in 13 regular season games. Junior Jordan Reid leads the Trojans in scoring, averaging 14.6 points per game.

Coming into tonight’s games, Keokuk and Fort Madison sit atop the standings with a 4-1 record against Southeast Conference competition, including splitting their season series together. Mount Pleasant sits in third place with a 2-2 conference record. Washington holds the fourth place spot with a 1-1 record. Finally, Fairfield is looking for their first conference win of the season, losing their first five matchups this season.

These two teams split the series between each other last season, with the home team coming away victorious in the two clashes. The varsity boys’ basketball tilt between Washington and Fairfield is scheduled to tip off at 7:45 p.m. Listen to live play-by-play coverage on FM 106.1 and KCIIRadio.com beginning at 5:45 p.m. with the Washington Hy-Vee Pregame show for the girls’ contest.
