It hasn’t been the start the Washington Demon girls’ basketball team (3-7 overall; 0-3 Southeast) had hoped for under first-year head coach Jay Zieglowsky. Through the first ten games of the season, Washington has managed to win just three contests and has struggled to score above 35 points this season. Junior guard Amber Salow leads the Demons in scoring, averaging 7.8 points per game.

The Demons will look to start rewriting their season tonight as they travel for a non-conference clash with the Ottumwa Bulldogs (4-7 overall) at Ottuwma High School.  The Bulldogs are looking for their first win over a Southeast Conference team this season. Ottumwa has lost to Fort Madison (50-47) and Fairfield (56-50). Senior forward Jami Nickerson leads the Bulldogs in scoring, averaging 13.3 points per game.

The girls’ varsity game is schedule for 6:15 p.m. Live play-by-play coverage from Evans Middle School in Ottuwma begins with the Washington Hy-Vee Pregame show at 5:45 p.m. on FM 106.1 and KCIIRadio.com.
