Two Southeast Conference rivals collide on the hardwood tonight as the Washington Demon girls’ basketball team (3-6 overall; 0-2 Southeast) travels to Mount Pleasant (6-2 overall; 1-2 Southeast) to take on the Panthers. The last time the Demons were on the court, the girls snapped a four-game losing streak by defeating the Burlington Grayhounds 51-45. Senior guard Dylann Schuletter had a season-high 13 point and brought down eight rebounds in the victory. Freshman guard Sarah Nacos came off the bench and contributed 10 points and dished out four assists in her varsity debut.

The Panthers come into play tonight winners of their last four games and have defeated their opponents by an average of 32.5 points per game in that span. Senior Kelsey Phipps leads the Panthers this season in scoring, averaging 14.3 points per game. Phipps is also tied with sophomore Sarah Moffett for the team high in rebounds with 51.

Washington and Mount Pleasant split the season series last year, with each team getting their victory on the opponent’s court. Tonight’s varsity girls’ game is scheduled to tip off at 7:45 p.m. Live play-by-play coverage from Mount Pleasant High School begins with the Washington Hy-Vee Pregame show at 7:15 p.m. on FM 106.1 and KCIIRadio.com.
