The police budget will be discussed at tonight’s special session of the Washington City Council. The fiscal year 2016 police budget has personnel costs at about 72 percent of the total budget, just over $1 million. Dispatch and emergency management costs are the second largest portion of the budget at 18.5 percent or approximately $250,000.

The total police budget in fiscal year 2013 was $1.3 million and has grown steadily with the total projected budget for fiscal year 2016 at $1.4 million.

The council will continue to have budget workshops over the next few weeks. Tonight’s meeting will be held at 6 p.m. at the Washington Public Library.
