The Washington Demon wrestling team (18-1 overall; 3-0 Southeast) is one step away from claiming back to back conference titles. The Demons welcome the Mount Pleasant Panthers (2-5 overall; 0-3 Southeast) to Washington High School for a Southeast Conference dual meet.

Washington has been perfect in conference duals this season. The Demons started out the conference schedule by defeating Fairfield 51-21. Washington then beat the Keokuk Chiefs 41-24 at Washington High School. Last Thursday, the Demons edged the Fort Madison Bloodhounds 40-31 in Fort Madison. A victory tonight over the Panthers secures the outright conference title for Washington.

The Mount Pleasant Panthers have won just two of their six overall dual meets this season, with two of their four losses to conference opponents. The Panthers opened conference matches with a 42-27 loss to Keokuk. Mount Pleasant then dropped a 55-20 dual meet to Fort Madison. After tonight’s meet, the Panthers finish conference competition against the Fairfield Trojans next Thursday.

Tonight’s varsity wrestling meet between Washington and Mount Pleasant commences at 6:30 p.m. at Washington High School.
