It will be a battle of the only teams left with undefeated dual records on the wrestling mat tonight as the Washington Demons (10-1 overall: 2-0 Southeast) travel to Fort Madison (4-2 overall: 1-0 Southeast) to take on the Bloodhounds.Washington and Fort Madison remain the only teams left without a dual loss in the Southeast Conference. The Demons defeated Fairfield (51-21) and Keokuk (41-24) last month, while Fort Madison defeated Mount Pleasant (55-20) before the holiday break.

Washington wrestling coach Brent Van Weelden says he expects several tough matches tonight with the Bloodhounds, “I know they are really tough at 106 pounds.” Van Weelden said, “They are also really good at 138, 145, and 152 pounds. Our kids are going to have to put their best effort.”

Sophomore Alex Latchum is scheduled to wrestle at 106 pounds and owns a record of 10-1. Sophomore Trey Van Weelden is projected to wrestle at 138 for the Demons and comes into the meet with a 17-1 record. Senior Alex Gonzalez is slated to wrestle at 145 pounds and comes in with a record of 18-1. Finally, freshman Jacob Hall is scheduled to wrestle at 152 pounds and has a record of 8-5.

Tonight’s Southeast Conference dual meet is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Fort Madison High School.
