Area wrestlers will be competing today in district tournaments trying to advance to Des Moines for the state tournament at Wells Fargo Arena.

Mid-Prairie, Lone Tree and Highland they will be heading to Wilton for their district tournament.

Representing the Golden Hawks are sophomore Duncan McCain (113), sophomore Visouth Peterschmidt (170), junior Cameron Tolander (182), and sophomore Levi Duwa (195).

Lone Tree they will be represented by senior Alex Yedlik (145). Yedlik made it to state two years ago and feel short in districts last year.

Highland is represented by sophomore Drew West (113), sophomore Bryce West (120), senior Zach Kleopfer (160) and junior Tony Olguin (170). The West brothers are hoping to return to the state meet.

Columbus/Winfield-Mt.Union will have five wrestlers compete for them in Fairfield today. They include junior Josh Keller (106), senior Mitch Griffen (113), senior Austin Edwards (145), sophomore Tucker Morrison, and senior Kyle Davis at heavyweight.

Sigourney-Keota has five wrestlers from their team representing them in the district tournament in Pleasantville. They include, freshman Nick Ives (120), sophomore Noah Reeves (138), junior Lane Boender (152), senior Gage Greiner (160) and senior Bryce Brown at heavyweight.

The top two wrestlers in each weight class at each district tournament will head to Des Monies for the state tournament in Wells Fargo Areana, in Des Moines.
