A balanced scoring effort has lifted the Lone Tree Lion boys’ basketball team (18-4 overall) into the next round of the Class 1A District 7 tournament. Four Lions scored in double figures in a 70-54 rout of the Midland Eagles in the quarterfinal round at Lone Tree High School.

Senior guard Thomas Viner scored a team-high 18 points, while his brother, senior Nick Viner, added 13 points in the victory. Senior forward Matt Wieland scored 12 points and brought down 11 rebounds, while sophomore Jovonte Squires contributed 11 points and dishing out eight assists in the win.

The victory improves Lone Tree to 18-4 overall, and advances them into the district’s semifinal contest against the Easton Valley River Hawks, who defeated Springfield 50-28 in the district quarterfinals.
