The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls’ basketball team (13-6) played in a non-conference match up against the Monticello Panthers (14-7). As heard on AM 1380, FM 102.5 and on KCIIradio.com the Lady Hawks came away with a victory with a score of 48-38.
Mid-Prairie had a big night from senior Taylor Kurtz. She recorded a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Mid-Prairie got off to a fast start and was up 21-14 at halftime. They led by as many as 11 points in the third quarter. However, the Panthers were able to storm back and cut the lead to only four points 37-33 at the end of the third. In the fourth quarter, Mid-Prairie kept the lead throughout the quarter and pulled away toward the end for a 10-point difference at the buzzer.
Mid-Prairie is now 13-6 on the season and will head to Wilton (2-16) on Friday in a River Valley Conference match up with the Beavers. The game will be at 6 p.m. Friday night in Wilton.
