After looking at 11 locations and seriously considering two, the building committee for the Washington County Board of Health has recommended a site for the Public Health department. Danielle Pettit-Majewski, Director of Washington County Public Health, said they’d like to construct a new building on 2.54 acres owned by the county on lots 2 and 3 of the County Subdivision, near the Orchard Hill complex, west of the Kirkwood Washington Regional Center. The space will allow for plenty of room for parking and future growth.

The board unanimously approved the site. Pettit-Majewski added by constructing a new building at this location, it will help clients who are already getting services at Orchard Hill and HACAP.

In addition, of the 600 WIC clients the department sees, over half come from outside of the City of Washington. Dr. Chris Grier, board member, stated he believes it will be a welcomed change by those who live in the northern portion of the county.

Pettit-Majewski added they are looking at having an August referendum.
