Dr. Stephan Schomer

During this National Heart Month, Washington Community Hospital and Clinics has announced the addition of full-time cardiology services to help area citizens overcome heart disease. In May, board certified cardiologist Dr. Stephan Schomer will join WCHC. He has provided services in Washington for 19 years as a visiting specialist but will become a full-time staffed physician.

This addition will enable WCHC to provide increased opportunities for patients to receive heart care locally. Heart disease is the leading cause of death among men and women in the United States.

Also, the top risk factors for heart disease include: smoking, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, lack of exercise, and poor diet.
