With three of their final four regular season games at Washington High School, the Demon girls’ basketball team (4-13 overall; 0-6 Southeast) has an opportunity to finish the home portion of their schedule on a good note.

Washington’s home court advantage has been been more like a disadvantage this season, winning just one of six home contests and scoring less than 30 points in four of the games. The Demons saw offensive improvement in their latest home game, scoring 49 points in Southeast Conference loss to the Keokuk Chiefs Friday night.

Washington ended the week averaging 50 points in three games last week. Freshman guard Sarah Nacos led the team with 35 total points, including a career-high 16 points in a 65-55 loss to Central Lee. Junior guard Morgan Kimball scored 21 points in two games last week while battling an illness.

The Demons welcome in the Davis County Mustangs to Washington High School for a non-conference clash tonight. The Mustangs are 0-2 against Southeast Conference opponents this season, losing by an average of 33 points per contest. Senior forward Katie Birchmier is the Mustangs leader in points and rebounds, averaging 12.5 and 7.9 respectively this season.

The games begin at 4:30 p.m. with the junior-varsity contest. Live play-by-play coverage of the varsity game begins with the Washington Hy-Vee Pregame Show at 7:15 p.m. on FM 106.1 and KCIIRadio.com.
