Fundraising efforts remain underway for the Washington Area Performing Arts and Events Center project and a private donor has stepped forward to match donations. Jan Gallagher with the auditorium project states a donor has announced a matching gift of up to $150,000 to bring the community campaign to a conclusion. Gallagher adds donations can be cash, stocks or grain. Also, donors do not have to pay income tax on stocks or grain given to the project.

The $7.1 million, 700 seat auditorium project has had some cuts due to inflation, but Gallagher hopes to restore these pieces with a final push of donations from the community. Project funding includes $2.5 million from the Washington County Riverboat Foundation and a $1.1 million bond approved by voters last April.

Donors who give $25,000 or more will have the honor of naming rights with the project. For more information listen to today’s Washington Page.
