A first half scoring run helped propel the Iowa City Regina Regals (19-3) end the season the Highland Huskies girls’ basketball team for a fourth straight year. As heard on FM 106.1 and KCIIRadio.com, the Huskies and Regals met in the Class 2A Region 6 tournament battle at Iowa City Regina High School Tuesday evening.

Behind a game-high 18 points from freshman guard Mary Crompton, the Regals ran out to a 43-27 victory over the Huskies. Highland senior Chelsey Lampe scored eight points in her final high school basketball game, while junior Cheyanne Adamson added seven points in the setback.

Highland enjoyed a 5-2 lead just past the halfway mark of the first quarter before the Regals outscored the Huskies 18-11 over the final 12 minutes of the half to take a 20-12 lead into halftime. Iowa City Regina extended the winning margin by outscoring Highland 23-15 in the second half.

This is the fourth straight season Iowa City Regina has ended Highland’s girls’ basketball season, with the other three contests being decided by an average of 30.7 points per game. The Huskies girls’ basketball team finished the year with a 15-8 mark, matching their win total from last season.
