Despite their small roster, the Highland Huskies wrestling team had a good showing at this past weekend’s sectional tournament. The Huskies competed in the Class 1A Sectional 15 tournament held in North English against wrestlers from English Valleys, Lone Tree, New London, Pekin, WACO, Wapello, and Wilton Community Schools.

The Huskies, who brought seven total wrestlers to the event, had four advance to next week’s district tournament in Wilton. Sophomore Drew West took first place in the sectional’s 113 pound weight class. His brother, sophomore Bryce West, finished in first place in the tournament’s 120 pound weight class. Senior Zach Kleopfer finished second in the 160 pound weight division, and junior Tony Olguin placed second in the 170 pound weight class.

Freshman Cullen Klebe finished in 5th place in the 106 pound weight class, and junior Ross Frank had the same result in the 145 weight division. Finally, junior Spencer Wieland finished in sixth place in the 152 pound weight class.
