The Iowa Mennonite School girls’ basketball team (4-16) came into this postseason match up only winning four games in the regular season with the Keota Eagles winning eleven games (11-10). KCII was in Keota calling the game live.
IMS pulled off the victory in the upset with a score of 38-29.

The game was close throughout the first half with a score of 16-11 at halftime. In the third quarter, IMS took its largest lead of the game with the score at 23-12, then Keota had an 8-0 run to get back into the game with the score 28-24 at the end of the third quarter. In the fourth quarter IMS would never give up the lead, limiting the Keota offense to five points while Iowa Mennonite School scored 10 points.

IMS was led on offense by Riley Schmeider who had 17 points and six rebounds, in the basketball game. Senior Cassidy Bontrager had a solid offensive performance getting eight points pulling five rebounds and three assists to finish the game. Junior Jess Bender got four points to go along with four blocks.

Keota was led by senior Madison Sheetz with 14 points, but sat out quite a bit of the game due to fouls.

IMS will head to the second round of the postseason playing against the WACO Warriors at Keota on Tuesday. KCII will broadcast the game live stating with the pregame show at 6:30 p.m. and tip-off at 7 p.m. on AM 1380, FM 102.5 and on KCIIradio.com.
