Iowa’s infrastructure has been graded at a C-. Iowa is fifth in the nation for most number of bridges, with one in every five structurally deficient or posted with weight restrictions in the state. In the bridge category Iowa’s grade is a D+. According to the report, traffic volumes on Iowa’s roads have increased by about 123 percent with pavement conditions deteriorating, resulting in a C- for roads.

Iowa’s highest grade was for solid waste with a B+, with about 42 percent of solid waste diverted from landfills for recycling.

Overall, Iowa had one B grade, seven Cs, and three Ds.
